We have been so busy on the farm and Portugal and getting our Lavender Gardens up to par... Please pay attention to this post you dog lovers and owners.
As some may know I’m an ingredient reader and even read them for all my animals before serving them. After a awhile of using Taste of the Wild Salmon Stream we have made an important switch! The wonderful thing about living on the west coast in the US is... well what is it?... Besides the lovely scenery, weather, beaches, wine, In n Out.... the list can go on but something relevant to this post is... COSTCO wholesale!
Coming back from Europe recently I have a newly renewed appreciation for the higher quality products (not only quantity) Costco sells! It’s definitely a perk to living in Cali and the west coast for sure. I’ve been so impressed with the shelf for dog food lately.
As a newly hobby puppy designer breed specialist, I’m very concerned about what my animals are ingesting. Taking someone’s word doesn’t do the trick... do your research! Even when people pride in calling themselves fancy titles which they’ve earned and entitled too, doesn’t make them a specialist in nutrition. I am also not a specialist in nutrition just an avid researcher.
Having had many intestinal problems in the past I’ve been forced to do a lot of research on nutrition and there’s a wealth of information on the internet now... it’s incredible!
NEW DOG FOOD*
We switched from Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream Canine Recipe to Kirkland Super Premium Adult dog food, Lamb, Rice & Vegetable Formula. Not only are it’s ingredients impressive but so is its price! About $30 for a 40lb bag. It’s basic ingredients include pre-biotic & probiotics to help support immune system & digestion but also, taurine, an ingredient said to be missing in many grain free dog foods, vitamins & minerals. There are 4-5+ different Kirkland flavors to choose from. The biggest reason we chose this is the lack of a (cheap/gmo) ingredient that many dog foods contain. Can you guess what that ingredient is???... Canola Oil.
Do your research on this oil to see why avoiding it at all costs is a pretty good idea. After your research on its affects on bodies how can anyone decent feed it to themselves or loved ones?
*Please note: If you decide to switch your furbabes food please taper off your furbabes from the food they’re eating now to the new one and not cold turkey switch as this can cause intestinal issues. Blend them together and then sooner than later just feed them your new dog food.
NEW PUPPY FOOD
We also made a switch on our puppy food to Kirkland Signature Nature's Domain Puppy Formula Chicken & Pea Dog Food 20 lb. My pups just love this & are thriving with beautiful fluffy coats and firm & healthy stools. We also switched from Taste of The Wild Salmon Stream Puppy Recipe. We’re happy with these changes & also are furbabes too! It includes so many good things check out the list below!
NEW DOG CHEWS
Also no more raw hide chews!!! We are fortunate to come across a lovely brand called EcoKind Pet Treats on Amazon. EcoKind Pet Treats Himalayan Gold Yak Dog Chews | Grade A Quality, 100% Natural, Healthy & Safe for Dogs, Odorless, Treat for Dogs, Keeps Dogs Busy & Enjoying, Indoors & Outdoor Use. (CLICK HERE)
Taste of The Wild is coming soon with a whole new recipe that includes Ancient Grains...will they eliminate Canola oil & replace with something more wholesome? We shall see.
